First, we will visit the vast garden of Agadir that is nicknamed “valley of the birds”. The garden owes this nickname to the huge aviary it contains. Also, other animal species such as ostriches and goats can be seen, peacefully moving about. This place is indeed a reward and ideal for a natural break after a three-hour drive from Marrakech.

After relaxing and enjoying the valley of the birds, we will move to explore the historical site of the old Kasbah in Agadir. The kasbah of Agadir (Agadir Oufla) is a historical landmark in Agadir that housed the old city of Agadir. A large part of the kasbah was affected by the earthquake that struck the city. The fort, is currently the last remaining part, is located on the top of a hill rising 236 meters above sea level, on the north side of town near the port. Historically speaking, the Kasbah was built in the year 1540 by the Saadian sultan Muhammad, then in 1752 the kasbah was restored by the Alaouite Sultan Moulay Abdullah. However, it was partially destroyed after the earth quake in 1960 and only the ramparts were partially rebuilt. Today, this magnificent kasbah still lies on a hill above the city of Agadir, offering beautiful views of Agadir and charming view of the beach and the port.

Later, visit Musée du Patrimoine Amazigh which is specialized in the Berber heritage of the Sous area, known as Amazigh. With an excellent display of photographs and Berber artifacts, especially jewelry and daggers, the museum is a great place to learn about the traditional life and culture of the region’s native Amazigh people.

After exploring the museum, we will head south to visit the La Medina d’Agadir, an idealized Berber village, built using traditional techniques and materials, with workshops for 30 independent artisans. Visit the medina where crafts are made and sold. A bit lively and chaotic, the medina and the souks contained within are best explored on foot. Enter the souks at the gates Rue Chair al Hamra Mohammed Ben Brahim. Inside the enclosed area you can browse the labyrinth of streets and stalls selling fruits, vegetables, jewelry and goods from around the region. If you want to continue shopping, your driver will take you to Agadir’s two other main markets containing stalls selling Moroccan goods and tourist souvenirs.

Finally, in afternoon, you will have your own free time to relax in the golden soft-sanded beaches of Agadir Bay. The undisputed fact about Agadir is that life revolves around the beach, which is huge and, unlike other parts of the North African Atlantic, reasonably well-sheltered from the ocean winds. The city authorities keep it both clean and safe; sunbathers can generally relax in peace.
