Enjoy a day of nature, as you make your way from the dry dusty plains of Marrakech through Berber villages and up into the High Atlas Mountains. Tafza is a popular stop on this excursion – make sure to stop at the Berber Ecomuseum. Formerly an abandoned house now renovated into a traditional Berber abode and museum, it houses collections of carpets, pottery and photography. All recount the rich history and culture of the Berber tribes.
Continue on to the village of Setti Fatma, best known for the annual moussem (religious festival). Non-Muslims are not allowed to visit the actual tomb, but much of the festivities do take place within the village. This is also the starting point for hikes of all levels, and the area’s numerous waterfalls are popular destinations.
